The Wizard of Oz was a special film to convert to stereo. The crew put special attention to preserve the detail of the original and not change the film’s characteristics such as the grain. One of the cool parts of dimensionalizing the film was to add depth where there wasn’t originally: the background of the sets. We added depth to the rolling hills of the art in the background. I felt that added an additional layer of magic to the film.
