Sensations of Sound is a 6 DoF VR film produced by The New York Times, captured with Lytro’s light field technology. The film blends live-action with hand-drawn animation. The film features Rachel Kolb who shares her experience of hearing music for the first time after receiving a cochlear implant.
I joined Lytro and familiarized myself with light fields a few weeks before the production of Sensations of Sound. Working on this project and compositing in light field space was incredibly exciting.
